The utilization of the concept of "terrestrial intelligence" in the context of current technological transformations

Abstract

It is certain that major technological transformations transport us from one era to another, thereby overturning the rules that define the development of countries and territorial domains, and altering the concepts individuals and groups employ to build strategies, shape policies, exchange information, and develop knowledge.

In our current time, digitization and artificial intelligence can be considered at the forefront of the key drivers of the ongoing technological revolution and the inter-era transformation we are experiencing.

Territorial domains, especially cities, are among the most significant fields where the effects of this revolution are manifested, and they serve as the main spaces and mechanisms for containing these transformations and exploiting the immense latent opportunities they hold to enhance competitiveness and achieve comprehensive development.

The pressing question in this context, which we aim to contribute to answering, is how the principles and mechanisms of territorial intelligence and smart cities can be utilized and updated to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in our cities. Additionally, how can we create the foundations necessary to unify visions and focus efforts on innovative strategies and supportive policies in the face of continuous technological transformation, uncertainty, and the successive crises that characterize our reality—crises that do not seem likely to abate in the foreseeable future but rather are expected to intensify, diversify, and grow? Furthermore, how can we address the entry of new actors and the obsolescence of previous standards and models amidst the rapidly accelerating changes.
